Green is a common surname derived from the Old English word “grene,” meaning “green.” It could have referred to someone who lived near a village green, a green field, or a forest. Interestingly, the Green family in the TV show “Family Guy” is named after the creator, Seth MacFarlane’s former teacher, Mrs. Green.
