Bledsoe

Bledsoe is an English surname with uncertain origins, although it is thought to have derived from a place name, possibly Bletchley in Buckinghamshire. The first recorded instance of the name appears in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is spelled Blechesdene. The name has been borne by several notable individuals, including American football player Drew Bledsoe and American historian Albert Taylor Bledsoe. Today, Bledsoe remains a relatively uncommon surname, with fewer than 10,000 individuals bearing the name in the United States.
